Description: ERCA Maximum Observed Flooding
Flood levels observed due to ice jamming in Feb 1985. They were staked and serveyed by ERCA staff where the observed flood levels surpassed the 1:100 yr flood line. In some cases, these levels are above the Hurricane Hazel flood levels.
Source: Deliniation of areas with maximum observed flooding for specific events. Does not include the Harrow flood of 1989. Data created by Geordon Harvey (ERCA) ~ 2000.
Description: Floodprone Areas for the County of Essex.
Based on the 1:100 Year ERCA Flood Line. Subdivided by TYPE between Great Lakes Floodprone areas and inland Floodplain Development Control Areas (FDCA). Intended for use in Official Plans. Appropriate scale range for viewing this dataset is 1:50,000 to 1:200,000.

Description: Natural Heritage Site as designated by an ERCA Study. Includes Windsor (2006), Lakeshore (2006), LaSalle (2008). Does not include community ELC mapping. Please see appropriate report for complete mapping.
Description: ANSIs (Areas of Natural and Scientific Interest) are polygon features that represent lands and waters containing important natural landscapes or features that are important for natural heritage, protection, appreciation, scientific study or education.Features are either provincially or regionally significant. For planning purposes, only features which are identified as provincially significant are applicable under the Provincial Policy Statement (PPS).

Description: Wetlands are lands that are seasonally or permanently flooded by shallow water. They also include lands where the water table is close to the surface.
The wetland polygons are managed independently from other hydro data classes and may overlap water bodies or other hydro data.
Not all wetlands have been identified and mapped. Active maintenance is ongoing province wide. The currency and accuracy of the spatial representation is variable and requires on-the-ground verification.
*Due to limitations of the shapefile format, Wetland data can only be downloaded in the file geodatabase format. On Ontario GeoHub, access a file geodatabase by clicking Download > Additional Resources > Complete File Geodatabase.
